In current times, Public Sector Banking has become eminent career option as it promises to provide attractive salary, fast-growth, job security, good work-life balance. In 1975 Government of India had set up Personnel Selection Services (PSS) for recruiting candidates for clerks and probationary officers to all public sector banks. In 1984 as per the instructions of Reserve Bank of India(RBI), PSS was changed to Institute of Banking Personnel Selection( IBPS).
IBPS PO 2017 Exam Schedule
Every year the IBPS conducts the IBPS PO Bank Exam for selecting candidates. IBPS supplies services to all the public sector banks, NABARD, SIDBI, SBI, LIC and insurance companies which are the consistent members of the IBPS society. IBPS started recruiting clerks and probationary officers through the Common Written Exam(CWE) in 2011. Every year since then IBPS CWE has been held which was before known as IBPS Bank PO exam for recruiting candidates to Regional Rural Banks(RRBs) and 27 public sector banks. It is held only in online mode at different locations throughout India. IBPS CWE-VII PO Preliminary Examination 2017 is planned to be held on 7th, 8th, 14th October and the IBPS PO Main Examination will be conducted on 26th October 2017.

IBPS PO Preliminary Exam Pattern
The IBPS PO prelims exam has a total duration of 1 hour and is conducted in online mode only. There are total 100 questions which is divided into 3 sections and it has a maximum score of 100 mark There is negative marking in the IBPS PO preliminary exam and for each wrong question 0.25 marks are deducted. To qualify for the IBPS PO Main exam one has to clear cut-off in all the 3 sections.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Pattern
The IBPS PO mains exam has a total duration of 140 minutes and is conducted in online mode only. There are total 200 questions which is divided into 5 sections and it has a maximum score of 200 marks. From this year onwards, there has been a modification in the exam pattern and has been allotted specific time for attempting each section. The sections must be attempted in the same order. One cannot move to the next section before the time has elapsed for the current section. There is negative marking in the IBPS PO main exam and for each wrong question 0.25 marks are deducted.
